Acerca del arte y desarrollo sustentable...

Me fue grato ver (pero solo en este caso) que los helechos que convivían con la plaza solar del Maestro Cruz Diez en la ULA fueron limpiados. No debe ser competencia, pero al menos el arte le ganó una a la naturaleza.

Una casi salida del horno. Dado todo lo que me pasó en Colombia durante los 4 días que estuve, no pude realmente escribir acerca de muchas fotos. Es por eso que por ahora, casi dos semanas después, y habiendo visto las muchas fotos buenas, escojo esta como la foto culminante del viaje.

Les presento a Jaime, colombiano, 46 años, chofer de taxi. El es oposición en Colombia (se podría decir que no está a la moda por eso), pero sigue siendo un caballero. Él y el policía de turismo del Palacio de Nariño, Sgt. Nuñez (De él no tengo foto, por ser oficial y las tensiones conocidas) tuvieron un gran debate a favor y en contra de Alvaro Uribe Vélez (El presidente Colombiano, para los no americanos).

A pesar de que siento simpatía por la eficaz labor de Uribe, ésta foto considero que es el compendio de lo que quiere Colombia y el resto de nuestros países. Siempre y cuando no los lidere un megalómano que mueve 10 batallones por Televisión, aplaudido por un centenar tarifado de focas.

Lo último lo digo sin malintenciones. Solo odio el modo de vida de tarifado político.

Given everything that happened to me during my 4 day visit to Colombia, I haven't been able to write about much of the great pictures that i took. That's why, now, almost 2 weeks later, I pick this as the magnum shot of the trip.

Meet Jaime, colombian, 46 year old, taxi driver. He's opposed to Uribe's government in Colombia (u might say he's an outsider due to that), but he's still a gentleman. He and the tourism police officer, Sgt. Nuñez (From whom i don't have pics due to his martial status and the recent diplomatic clashes between Colombia and Venezuela) had a big debate arguing in favor and against Alvaro Uribe's government (The Colombian President, for the non americans).

Although I'm simpathetyc with Uribe's effective approach on pacifying his country, this picture signifies the resume of what Colombia (and all latin american countries) need. As long as they're not run by a Megalomaniac that moves 10 armed divisions in National TV, applauded by a hundred of in-governement-payrroll seals without thinking.

Last sentece meant no harm. I just hate government payrolls way of life.

Durante mi época teenager fotográfica, estuve muy involucrado en la movida house-elektro de mi ciudad natal. Parte de lo que me cautivó de esa movida, al igual que en la fotografía fue el hecho de que se congelaran y movieran tantas luces a la vez. Ninguna foto que haya tomado ha captado esa ambivalencia tan bien como ésta.

During my "photographic teen", I was very involved in the house elektro scene in my hometown. Part of what captivated me from that movement, just like in photography, was the fact that everylight seem to freeze and move at the same time. None of any of my photos has taken that ambivalence as good as this one.

Arte y Desarrollo Sustentable /Art and Sustainable Development

A pesar de todo lo que hablamos de desarrollo sustentable, hay ejemplos de que ese desarrollo no es del todo coherente. Estos helechos brotando de la Plaza Solar del Maestro Cruz Diez lo demuestran. Sin embargo, es de las pocas fotografías mías que considero realmente artísticas.

Despite of all that we talk about susteinable development, there are some examples that that development is not coherent at all times. These ferns sprouting from the Maestro Cruz Diez's Plaza Solar (Solar Square) show that. Although, this is one of a very few of my own pics that i consider truly artistic.
